Tasha’s Baby Shower – The Details

Last month I had the opportunity to shoot fellow photographer Tasha Davis‘ beautiful baby shower. This first post contains some of my favorite detail shots. I’ll put up another post soon with all the action shots. You can tell a lot of planning went in to this baby shower!

Family Portraits with Tara, Maddox, and Johnny

I went out for a quick photo shoot with this lovely family a few weeks ago. It was kind of an interesting day weather-wise so we went to the local city park where there is a variety of scenery that works well in any weather. Tara’s sons Maddox and Johnny were a delight to work with, they were very patient and absolute gentlemen, and super cute to boot. At any rate I’ve been slacking on getting photos on the blog and have a few more shoots to upload in the coming weeks. Enjoy!

Justin and Lisa

I went on a quick shoot with this lovely couple last week. I met Justin through my sister, and he mentioned that he wanted pictures with his girlfriend Lisa, so we met up at a few nice spots, and got some great photos in the limited amount of time we had (sunlight was fading fast). All in all a great time, and we were able to get some pictures with Mount Shasta in the background!

Chris & Briana

I went on a lovely shoot with my friends Chris and Briana, and their dog Lucy. We had a great time and I re-discovered some awesome places for future shoots!

Fun Session with Jamie and Janelle

Went on a shoot with the lovely Janelle and Jamie yesterday evening. Talk about a fun time! The light was very low by the time we started shooting, but I think the results are decent given the low levels of light. I was getting reasonably sharp pictures handheld at 200mm at 1/60th second! As always, enjoy!

Pumpkin Patch!

I tagged along with my friend Chris and his niece and mother to the local pumpkin patch today. They don’t have a lot of pictures together, so I offered my services. It was a pretty cute little pumpkin patch and the light was perfect for capturing some photos for them to cherish forever!

Portrait Session with Janelle and BT

I went out yesterday evening for a portrait session with Janelle and her boyfriend BT. Still learning the ropes of the 5D Mark II, but I’m loving it so far. Took about 200 pics, got some good shots I think.

5D Mark II Test – Farmer’s Market

I’m so excited! I finally broke down and bough the Canon 5D Mark II; it arrived on Friday but I’ve just now got around to taking some decent test shots, besides the standard household object shots. This is the second to last farmer’s market here in Mount Shasta, so I figured I better get some nice produce. I picked up some butternut squash, carrots, basil, and arugula; I also got a pistachio macaron from the bakery stand, mmmmm, it was delicous! I cannot believe how sharp this camera is with my 50mm f/1.4, 100% crops were absolutely usable. Here are a few of the shots I took today:

First Snow!

I am always super excited the first time it snows, which around here can be pretty early. My little town of Mount Shasta sits at about 3500′ but the mountain itself stretches all the way to 14,179′, so there’s a lot of variation. Earlier this week it was raining very hard and it was even thickening up, wanting to snow, meaning that it was absolutely dumping up on the mountain itself. After the skies cleared, a beautiful white mountain was exposed! This wasn’t your normal early October dusting either, there was well over a foot at 7500′ (end of the road). I took my pup and went for a little hike in the snow. Capturing some pics along the way. I was hoping to catch the sunset with all it’s alpenglow glory, but clouds were blocking the sun. At any rate I still got some keepers, and some of them just screamed black and white. I’ll probably have more to post soon, I have a lot to go through, including rendering some HDRs.

Portrait Session with Jamie and Taylor

Jamie is my next door neighbor, I’ve known her most of my life. She brought her beautiful daughter Taylor (who I post pictures of previously) out to the city park for a photo shoot. We took over 190 pictures, whew. There were so many keepers it was difficult deciding which ones to post. At any rate I decided on the following pictures, and may post more later. This pictures were either taken in natural light or with a gold reflector, no flash used! I hope you enjoy!
