Seniors may change outfits as many times as time allows. Pay attention to the neckline when choosing your shirts and make sure that collars lay correctly. Girls, please be sure to bring appropriate undergarments for each different top or dress you bring. Nude bras usually work best. The formal “yearbook” shots are close up, so you do not necessarily need to bring dress pants and dress shoes, unless you want full length shots of that outfit also. Many senior girls are wearing basic black fitted shirts or sweaters for their formal poses. Again, the most important factor in this decision is a flattering neckline.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SCHOOL’S GUIDELINES for what is acceptable to wear in your yearbook portraits, if they specify a backdrop color, when their deadline is and in what form they want to receive your portrait.
Don’t forget your letter jacket, class ring or special jewelry. You may also bring your own props, including musical instruments, sports equipment, trophies, your vehicle, a friend or family member or even the family pet!
I specialize in natural light photography, I find that nothing else is as flattering or beautiful. Therefore I prefer to take portraits when the light is best, either early in the morning (very early) or in the late afternoon (4-6pm). However I do have several locations in mind if we have to meet during the middle of the day. I do have flashes, soft-boxes, and reflectors to enhance or supplement the natural light. If you wish to do indoor or studio portraits, that can be arranged as well, an extra setup fee will apply.
